There’s a lot of carnage on our highways. Highway 11 and 17 in Ontario has become really bad to the point of criminality. I’ve reached out several times to Truck News to suggest a journalistic investigation on the reason behind all of the carnage on our highways but all I got for a response was absolutely nothing. I don’t understand as Truck News is a source of information for truckers. I have stopped trucking because I fear for my life.

Having worked in the overdimensional and specialized transport field, the driver is the one ultimately responsible for the load. It requires a trained, professional, conscientious and experienced driver.

This is what we are dealing with. Until this country has a common registry system and begin to communicate better between jurisdictions, carriers will continue to register in deferent jurisdictions in order to skirt the rules and keep operating, no matter how unsafe they are….

I think the fine structure is not high enough. Should start at $10,000 for the driver and $50,000 for the carrier. PLUS operating suspension for 1 month.

Measuring sticks are readily available online, every auto hauler has one. If you want to haul over height loads spend the $300 and buy one. Take responsibility or don’t start the truck.

No way.
This falls directly on the shoulders of the driver, and no one else.
If a driver doesn’t know the rules and can’t figure out how to use a measuring tape, maybe that driver should give up their commercial license, and opt for a different career path.
Obviously not one in construction !!!!

Sounds like pure bull**** to me. Common sense, no distractions like cell phones and tablets, will stop the crashes. If you are not sure, STOP AND LOOK .
