Toronto roads ranked third slowest in the world
Toronto was ranked the third slowest city in the world, according to the 2023 TomTom Traffic Index released on Wednesday.
The survey included 387 cities in 55 countries, which were ranked based on the average time it takes to drive 10 km in the city.
While Vancouver ranked 32nd on the list, and Winnipeg 93rd, Toronto made the Top 3 most congested cities list. According to the report, drivers spend around 29 minutes for a 10-kilometer drive.
On Nov. 30, which was reported as the worst day to drive on Toronto roads in 2023, this time increased to 33 minutes.

After the conversion of Bus only lanes the space available for cars, vans and trucks has been reduced by 50% where there are 2 lanes, 33% where there are 3 lanes and 25% where there are 4 lanes.
Vehicles turning left at signal without an advance green have a few seconds to their fate. Due to lane reduction, same number of vehicles have to clear the intersection using less lanes within the same time period as earlier
Buy back the 407 and make it toll free.
Balance the traffic on the QEW, 403, 401, 427 and it remove a great deal of grid lock which costs billions of dollars per year in productivity losses.
I suggested this in 2017, and if it had of been done then, then the HWY 407 would have been paid for by now. Still the same scenario applies.
