Michelin rolls out aerodynamic trailer flaps
Michelin has launched new Energy Flaps, which will be the standard spec’ on Utility Trailers, making them the first standard aerodynamic flaps in the industry, according to the company.
They’ll also be available through all Utility OEM dealers. The new 24×28-inch flaps feature ultraviolet resistance and withstand temperatures from -40 to 100 C. Michelin says their low-flex and anti-sail design keep them straight while the trailer is moving.
About 60-80% of the material used in their construction is recycled, and the flaps can be installed without drilling.
“The Michelin Energy Flap is designed to increase safety with optimally dispersed water spray downward, away,” said Pierluigi Cumo, B2B vice-president of marketing for Michelin North America. “Expanding our partnership with Utility Trailers demonstrates that Michelin is providing the latest technology in energy flaps and delivering on our promise of a more sustainable future.”
