Kia explores concept of flexible vans

The latest concept vehicles from Kia look like they would find a home outside a Barbie Dream House, complete with pink packages stored in the van’s logistics cabinets.

But the vehicle platform – known as Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) – is designed to be particularly flexible, catering to the evolving needs of individual businesses and consumers alike.

Is the PB7 not long enough? Return it to the factory for added length. Want to complete final mile deliveries rather than working as a people mover? Have the vehicle’s body returned for a new interior.

The first unit, the high-roof PBV 5, is scheduled to be produced beginning in 2026.

“It’s really a logistics ecosystem,” a brand representative said during a tour at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

“Kia’s PBV business represents our vision of going beyond the traditional concept of automobiles by fulfilling the unmet needs of diverse customers and communities through optimized vehicles and services catering to specific market and business circumstances,” Kia president and CEO Ho Sung Song said in a press release.
